We all know about the restrictions of Amazon, Best Buy, eBay, Apple Store, Google Store and thousands other like it… they have shipping restrictions, some don’t want to accept our credit cards… some simply say we accept PayPal only! Bohooo! What do we dooo!
That feeling you go through when you reach the checkout and realize that the online store doesn’t support your country or that particular piece of item you wanted to buy can only be shipped to places like Moon and Mars or that you cannot pay via that plastic card in your hand because the computer is saying no you don’t live on moon, you are not a valid resident of Mars!
Well here is a run down of list that should cheer you up…!
I have collected 12 reliable forwarding services here that help international shoppers like us get their purchased items to their doorstep no matter where the item was bought from… whether it was a shack, a tunnel… or a house in Jokolamba! You can purchase your item from Barnes & Nobles or Walmart… or even Newegg… and have it delivered to your desired destination and that wont require you to have PayPal, certified Credit Card from moon or planet mars.
How they Work?
These services simply give you a US address when you sign up with them which is sometimes free (be sure to read the FAQ). All you need to do is ship your purchases to that address from the online store and once the forwarding service receives your items they will immediately ship it to your destination address. Bear in mind that there is shipping cost but you can always calculate it before hand and almost always track it.
Below is the list
This forwarding service is firstly free and accepts payments via PayPal and wire transfer. They ship everywhere and consolidate items as well. If you want they can provide you with pictures of your shipment with an extra cost but there is no cost if your items are kept in their stack for 45 days. Their customer support is prompt and I have been told that they are a very reliable service. They ship via DHL and FedEx and provide tracking facility as well.
An acclaimed forwarding service that comes with a signup fee. There is a free account as well which i was very tempted to signup for but the perks were not as good as Stackry’s. Of course you get everything and more with their platinum membership but that costs.
This forwarding service allows a person to shop from stores like Amazon, Dell, Nike, Woot, buy.com, Gap, Sears, eBay etc. The interesting bit is that they have a setup fee which is $5.00 USD which you can pay via your Credit Card or PayPal and after you receive a refund of $0.1 to $0.99 then you can verify your account. This service also double checks your banking situation and verifies your details and in returns gives you not only a PO Box number but a physical address in Portland Oregon. I didn’t find any information on tracking facility.
With Bongo International there is again a charge for registration. They offer a Demo video for users to see so they wont need to ask question upon question. They provide personal and business plans which include tracking facility for free. They deliver to 222 countries worldwide and on top of that provide online chat service as well if you have an urgent query. Another thing which I found useful was the area where I tried to figure out what the transit time would be if I were to ship a Laptop from US to Pakistan, and it not only showed me that I could ship to that Asian country but also I got a list of items that were prohibited and restricted for international shipment.
Nex Worldwide Express deals with not just air shipping, but ocean, car, vehicle, package shipping and many other services.
So pick your type, and calculate you express/economy rates. You can sign-up via an easy process and save 60% on domestic & international shipping services. There is tracking facility and these people have a very a sound support system as well.
Borderlinx gives you a free account. With them you either get a US or UK address you can use that while online shopping. Their main courier is DHL which is very reliable. Their service also includes repackaging and consolidating multiple packages to save you money. They dont cater to a lot of countries, so be sure to check if your destination is listed with their services or not. You can calculate the estimated cost, track your shipping, and check your items in the waiting list. For more information you can always check out the website, or its FAQ.
Shopping USA lets you create a free account. They recommend that the user select USPS Express Mail because its reliable, has accurate tracking, faster delivery and cheaper insurance. The service also includes a 45 day free stay over at warehouse in the case that you are shopping from a variety of retailers and collecting them all at Shopping USA so that they can all be shipped together as one shipment. They offer tracking service so your parcel is once again, in the monitoring range. They accept payments via PayPal and major credit cards.
ComGateway works like any other forwarding services mentioned above. They offer a free registration but have a select group of countries, so again, when registering, do check it out. Once you register, they give you a US address where your items can be shipped to. Once they arrive, ComGateway will forward them via DHL or FedEx. There is also a useful time & cost calculator that you can use to estimate when you will receive your package. Other services include repackaging your item so the shipping is cheaper and consolidating multiple packages to be shipped together.
This forwarding service prefers DHL, FedEx and GLS to process shipments. They cater to international and domestic customers both but do make sure you check the FAQ and the country list before registering. They claim to deliver packages at 50% off regular pricing because of high volume of shipments. I should also mention that they don’t charge any monthly or registration fee, so this service is free to begin with. They can also consolidate packages for you if you are buying from different stores and lastly they allow 30 days of free storage in their warehouse. I am not sure about tracking facility since it was not mentioned in FAQ but there is a clear mention of it in the categories on left. But i do know (for sure) that they accept payments via Credit Card, Paypal, Western Union or Wire transfer.
This is by far the most different of all services as it caters to only 5 regions, namely Singapore, Australia, India, Malaysia and Thailand. Upon registering for vPost, you’ll receive addresses for US, Japan and Europe which means you can shop from the websites there. Because they only ship to these 5 countries, they sometimes have shipping discounts when you pay with a local credit card. Their services include a shipping calculator and the ability to consolidate multiple purchases before shipping it together to your address. For payments, they accept Credit/Debit Cards (Visa/Master) and PayPal, but be sure to check your region for this info again.
MyUS has been providing their service to 220 countries globally since 1997. They have 3 types of accounts consisting of a standard (for the occasional buyer) and 2 premium(with monthly fee) accounts (one for consolidating packages, the other with mail and catalogs included). With the standard account you can’t chose for when the packages are shipped – they are shipped automatically by the service. With the Premium accounts you can ask them to hold shipping. To buy, just put their address as the secondary ship to or billing account, or get a Personal Shopper to do the buying for you. They have a Live chat system in place for consumers who wish to be answered promptly.
Shipito acts as a storage solution for you and will also ship out your package using the shopping method you chose. Their service registration is $8.50 USD for basic services which includes everything. They ship via USPS, FedEx, DHL, TNT and Shipito Airmail to more than 200 countries. By registering for an account with them, you will get email notification when your purchases arrive there. They will keep it for 90 days max in basic account and will send it to you as individual packages or consolidate a few before shipping them based on which service plan you opt for. Consolidated packages can earn you savings so although it costs $50 a year or $10 a month, it is probably more worth it if you have a lot of purchases.
So that was a total of 10 mail/parcel delivering services that you can use to ship your items from US/UK stores and not rely on your relatives/friends/acquaintance only.
