This week, Apple rolled out a tool you can use to transfer media – photos and videos – from your iCloud to Google Photos.
The file transfer process is simple, although it can take between three and seven days to complete. Also, because Google does not support every file type that Apple does, you will not be able to transfer Live Photos, Smart Albums, and some RAW photos. Asides these, every other format, including .jpg, .png, .mkv, and .3gp are portable between both platforms.
With this feature, Apple users will find it easier to transfer their content between both platforms. This development is useful for people who want to back up their iCloud content on Google Photos. It is equally useful for those who want to switch from an Apple to an Android device.
At the moment, it is only available to users in select countries, including the USA, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
