Telegram announced on Friday that users can now participate in group video calls with its latest app update.
The update applies to users on all devices, including tablets, desktops, and smartphones. More importantly, the group video chats can accommodate up to 30 participants. While this is a lot, the company said they’re working on expanding this number.
Telegram updated these features to stay competitive against other chat apps like WhatsApp and Zoom.
Asides the group video call feature, the app update also has noise suppression for improved audio quality. Furthermore, users can pin their videos, and share their camera feeds and screens with others.
Finally, the latest update debuts Animated Backgrounds: they are wallpapers that swirl as you type.
