Spotify launched its Clubhouse competitor, Greenroom, this week.
With the advent of Clubhouse last year, and it’s subsequent success, many social media giants created their version. With this move, Spotify is the latest online media company to jump on this trend. In March, the company acquired Locker Room: a live audio social network for sports fans and insiders. This new application builds on that by offering sports, music, and cultural programming, among others.
With Greenroom, users – both premium and free – can host or participate in live audio discussions to achieve Spotify’s goal of connecting content creators with audiences in real-time.
The company has robust plans to drive and retain engagement. For starters, it has a host of publishers it can call on for content creation. Also, the application has a host of interactive features that will help audiences engage with the creators.
Greenroom is available in over 135 countries and you can download it on both iOS and Android devices.
