Sony Has Announced to Discontinue PS4 Communities Feature

Sony has announced it will shut down the PlayStation 4 communities feature in April 2021.

The company notified PlayStation 4 owners of this development via email this weekend. This is the second feature Sony is removing in as many months. Earlier in March, the company rescinded users’ ability to rent or purchase movies from their consoles, whether it’s a PS4, PS5, or PS5 Pro.

As to why they are dropping PS4 Communities, Sony did not say. However, many people believe it is because the feature does not have many users.

Despite this development, the update will provide users with some improvements. For example, users will be able to disable notifications for some of the groups they are in.
