We all want to stay healthy, but sometimes it is hard to keep ourselves motivated with all the work and lethargy draining you left, right and centre.
Some prefer fitness devices others, want apps.
If you are anything like me, you probably get distracted a lot and miss out on your workout for the day. If that sounds like you also, then perhaps you should consider using one of these awesome fitness apps. Each of these, offer unique features or goals to keep you motivated to exercise every day. We have accumulated three apps for each operating system.
Windows Fitness Apps
100 Push-ups (Free)
This app is great because it gives you a clear goal to attain. The app wants you to do one thing and one thing only: Push-ups! It trains you to do 100 push-ups in a row. It is simple and straight-forward to use, and it gives you a precise schedule to attain you goal of 100 push-ups.
Adidas miCoach (Free)
Adidas miCoach is an excellent app because it fits nearly every exercise routine you may find yourself doing. It has over 400 video tutorials to help you improve performance, and it also tracks all of your data into easy-to-read charts. Combine that with real-time audio coaching, and you have a comprehensive app that will keep you motivated because of all its features (also available on iOS and Android).
FitnessCompanion isn’t overly innovative with its features. It has everything you would expect it to have: a workout diary, a built-in music player, and a BMI tracker. What makes FitnessCompanion unique is its built-in personal assistant that recommends workouts. Plus it has achievements to keep you motivated to accomplish your goals.
Android Fitness Apps
NexTrack is possibly the most popular rewards oriented exercise program. You earn points by working out and connecting with other users, and they can redeem these points for rewards. The community is also strong, and it offers a lot of support for you and other people using the app. (Also available on iOS)
Sworkit Lite (Free)
Sworkit Lite is great because it gives you the gym experience without the gym. The app has tons of tutorials that serve as alternatives to gym workouts, including yoga exercises. For those looking for a personal trainer without the gym, this is the app for you. (Also available on iOS)
Pact (Free, In-App Purchases)
Pact is the definition of putting your money where your mouth is. Basically, you commit to a certain exercise regiment or other goal (like eating more fruits and vegetables), and then you put a certain amount of money on the line. Every day you don’t achieve your goal, you have to pay up the money you laid down, but you also get paid when you complete goals. If other workout plans aren’t working, go for the ultimate motivator: your hard-earned cash. (Also available on iOS)
iOS Fitness Apps
Charity Miles (Free)
If you need a motivator higher than yourself, then consider Charity Miles. Basically, you select a charity you are passionate about and corporate sponsors will donate a certain amount of money for every mile you run. It’s only a few cents at a time, but every penny counts. Charity Miles makes your workouts beneficial for more than you. (Also on Android)
Nike+ Running (Free)
This is one of my personal favourites. Nike+ has a built-in music player, and you can get special training programs that are perfect for beginners and pro runners alike. You can also establish challenges between friends to keep yourself motivated and share your progress on Facebook. (Also available on Android)
Zombies, Run! (Free)
This is one I just started using, but I imagine I will be using it for a long time. Zombies, Run! is the ultimate blend of game and fitness. Basically, you are in charge of a base of survivors during a zombie apocalypse, and you must walk/jog/run everyday in order to gather supplies and protect your survivors. It is ingenious, fun, and it is the perfect way to keep you motivated. After all, you may actually be outrunning zombies one of these days.
As you can see, there are plenty of fitness apps to choose from, all it takes is finding one that fits your taste. Now you really don’t have an excuse for skipping your exercise today.
